Return of Citizens to Russia

Russian citizens can return to the country through a simplified procedure, as they have the right to return to their homeland without hindrance.

Russian citizens may also participate in the State Program for the Resettlement of Compatriots.

Under current legislation, Russian citizens must have one of the following documents with them to enter Russia:

- International passport.
- Internal passport of a Russian Federation citizen.
- Birth certificate (for minors under 14).
- Certificate of return issued by a Russian consular office abroad.
- A certificate confirming participation in the State Program for the Resettlement of Compatriots may be required (if participating in the State Program)

When crossing the border, Russian citizens undergo standard border and customs checks. They do not need a visa or other permits unless they are transporting items that are prohibited or restricted from being brought into the country.

Thus, Russian citizens can return to the country at any time by presenting a valid identity document.
